The Volkswagen Golf is arguably the second most popular VW after the iconic Volkswagen Beetle and you’ll literally find Golfs everywhere. The Golf Estate is a more family friendly variant of the Golf with more space on the inside for your family to fit in while having the same wheelbase as the regular Golf. According to the rumours, VW is currently working on a ‘R’ version of the Golf Estate and a prototype have been spotted multiple time on the street while being tested and to describe in one word, the Golf R Estate looks ‘sick’!

“it’s far less boring and more exciting than your average daily beater”

At first glimpse you’ll notice VW has spiced up the Golf R Estate to make it more exciting like the standard Golf R. Larger diameter wheels, low profile tyres, bigger disc brakes painted in blue, lower suspension, sporty bumpers- everything you may find on a regular Golf R, the Golf R Estate has it all. Although a prototype, the car surely looks exciting at first sight and in fact, it’s far less boring and more exciting than your average daily beater.

“it will surely fall in the category of one of these factory sleepers

The standard Golf R comes with 302hp and 295Nm of torque produced by a 2.0litre turbocharged engine to accompany a standard 4Motion AWD system. The top of the line Golf R can go from 0 to 100km/h within 4.6seconds while having a top speed of 269km/h. While the Golf Estate will definitely be little heavier than the regular Golf R but even if it does a 0 to 100 within 5 seconds it will surely fall in the category of one of these factory sleepers! I mean, you won’t find many other 300hp cars that you can use to take your kids to school and also take out for a joy ride!

The 2021 Golf R Estate is the perfect balance between a car being sporty and practical at the same time as the numbers say and I believe it will be accepted and receive the same love and affection by the car community as it’s younger Golf R cousin.
