Tesla’s Model S Plaid has 1100HP and 520 miles of range

Suffice it to say, no one was expecting this much from Tesla’s Battery Day event that took place on the 22nd of September. Beyond a proper insight into the miracles of Tesla’s technology, we only ever expected a range boost announcement.

However, CEO Elon Musk proceeded to blow our minds with a paramount announcement that goes to claw Tesla to the top spot that it has occupied for some time now.

“The only thing beyond Ludicrous is Plaid.”

Towards the end of the event and prior to the QnA session, Musk showed a Model S boasting a 1.30.3 lap time at Laguna Seca. Further boasting a 0-60 time of less than two seconds and a quarter-mile of less than nine seconds, this would go on to be the Tesla Model S Placid.

Exerting north of 1100horsepowers via three electric motors, this is the most insane vehicle Tesla has shown us yet, capable of reaching a top speed of 200mph. Despite the massive power boost, Tesla has not abandoned efficiency, but rather augmented to it, as this Model S will be able to achieve 520 miles of range. With this one car, the American automaker has successfully put a knife to the throats of its competitors; faster than the Taycan Turbo S, more range than the recently revealed Lucid Air (which has an estimated 517 miles). That too without any delay, because the Plaid is available for preorder right now.

As one would expect, the price has also been augmented to, with the Model S Plaid coming in at a base price of $139,990. While this may seem contrary to Musk’s promises of the $25,000 Tesla, he isn’t backing out on it either, although it’s expected to take some time.
