Tesla’s Battery Day is on Sep. 22; Musk hints at capacity increase

Tesla announced that its ‘Battery Day’ program for shareholders will be held on the 22nd of September at their Fremont factory. For the rest of us, a live stream will be held at 4:30pm ET.

The automaker will provide insight about their cell production through a tour into its factory, and is also expected to reveal details about its current and future battery technology, like their million-mile batteries which China’s CATL recently hinted, news about range, and Tesla’s plans of reducing cobalt in their battery packs, to name a few.

“400 Wh/kg *with* high cycle life, produced in volume (not just a lab) is not far. Probably 3 to 4 years.” Replying to a Twitter thread about the possibility of an electric airplane, Musk hinted at a capacity increase in the foreseeable future at a mass level.

With less than a month to go for the long awaited Battery Day to commence, we are looking forward to exciting information from Tesla.
