Tesla to make normal trucks if Cybertruck fails

Musk “admits”, or rather states, that Tesla didn’t conduct any market or consumer research on the truck before designing it through a sci-fi lens. In contrast to the rest of the pickup truck market, the Cybertruck’s angular geometrical shape and stainless steel body has more than just a noticeable detachment in conforming to design standards. It’s the embodiment of what people in the 80’s thought the future would be like, and that’s what Musk intended to do. It’s not meant to blend into the road, as much as it’s meant to fit into Cyberpunk 2077.“We just made a car we thought was awesome and looks super weird. I just wanted to make a futuristic battle tank — something that looks like it could come out of ‘Blade Runner’ or ‘Aliens’ or something like that, but was also highly functional,” said Musk in an interview with Automotive News. He stated that he realized the Cybertruck could be “a complete failure,” but the company has a back-up plan, saying “But I wasn’t super worried about that because if it turns out nobody wants to buy a weird-looking truck, we’ll build a normal truck, no problem.” Resorting to building more of a conventional truck is apparently Tesla’s “fallback plan”.
