At the present time, Kia is one of the few automakers who are still selling a minivan in the U.S. To match the requirements of the changing market, the Sedona is set to get a redone. The following sketch previews the look of the new 2022 Kia minivan before its debut scheduled for later this year. The new Sedona is expected to hit the American Market sometime next year.
From what the rendering shows, the redesigned Sedona seems to have crisp body lines and nice detailing. It is also expected to ride on a new platform, possibly shared with the Kia Telluride, and continue to use a naturally aspirated V-6 engine. All sorts of family-oriented features will be available inside, and an updated version of the current Sedona’s lounge-style second-row seats with footrests, could also be added as an option in the new minivan.
The new Sedona is being developed with the main goal of competing against the current minivan state of the art, as the main competitor, Toyota Sienna just received a bold redesign for 2021. Chrysler Pacifica and Honda Odyssey, have also went through upgrades. The Kia sells in smaller numbers than its more well-established rivals, but this new model may seek a larger piece of the shrinking market.
