Where the Beetle stood out, they said, was in customer loyalty.
Beetle enthusiasts as a whole tend to be loyal to the brand, but that loyalty shifted to a whole other gear for the Beetle. The compact car brings back memories of youth — of families piled into the Bug for a trip or the 1960s counterculture that embraced it.
A Volkswagen fan club attributed part of the Beetle’s lasting success to its instantly recognizable silhouette.
